Facebook is testing a new app that provides free internet access in developing countries.

The first trail is running in Peru, but it plans to launch in a number of other countries in future, including Thailand, the Phillippines, and Iraq.

It only loads text on a website due to the low-bandwidth browsing.

The app called Discover, which provides users with a balance of free browsing data provided by several mobile partners. While using Discover you don't need a Facebook account.

The app doesn't collect user's browsing histories "in connection with them" and does not store their activity to target Facebook ads.
