The personal assistant of Ivanka Trump, US President Donald Trump’s daughter and senior White House adviser, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the media reported.

The assistant, who works in a personal capacity for US President Donald Trump's daughter, has not been around her in several weeks.

The development came on the same day when Vice President Mike Pence’s spokesperson, Katie Miller, was confirmed to have been infected with the disease.

She was not symptomatic. Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner both tested negative on Friday, the person familiar with the matter told the US news channel. The development comes a day after President Trump confirmed that Vice President Mike Pence's press secretary Katie Miller had tested positive for the coronavirus.

The US currently accounts for the highest number of coronavirus cases and deaths in the world.
