Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday laid down the details of the second tranche of the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan economic package of Rs 20 lakh crore.

In its first phase, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made several big announcements on Wednesday. During this time, he gave relief from MSME to real estate companies and general taxpayers. This series of relief continues on Thursday and Nirmala Sitharaman is once again facing the media.

It may be noted that PM Modi in his speech had emphasized that bold reforms are needed to make the country self-reliant so that the impact of crises such as COVID can be negated in the future that ranges from supply chain reforms for agriculture, rational tax system, simple and clear laws. He also pointed out that measures must be in place to attract investment and further strengthen 'Make in India'.

Addressing a press conference at the National Media center, the FM said, today's tranche of package focuses on migrant workers, street vendors, small traders, small farmers.

FM Sitharaman announces Rs 5,000 crore special credit for supporting 50 lakh street vendors

Nirmala Sitharaman on May 14 announced relief measures for street vendors who have been hit hard by the COVID-19 lockdown. Sitharaman said the government will start a special credit line worth Rs 5,000 crore which will benefit about 50 lakh street vendors who had to shut their shops since the imposition of coronavirus-induced lockdown.

“We have already generated 14.62 crore person-days of work till 13th May, which is 40-50% more persons enrolled as compared to last May. Migrant workers who are going back to their states are being actively enrolled in MNREGA.” Finance Minister unveiled the first tranche of the Rs 20 lakh crore on May 13.

COVID-19: FM Sitharaman announces free ration to all migrants for the next 2 months

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on May 14 said, “Free food grains supply to all migrants for the next 2 months. For non-card holders, they shall be given 5kg wheat/rice per person & 1 kg chana per family/month for 2 months. 8 crore migrants will benefit- Rs 3500 crores to be spent on this.”

Agriculture loans worth Rs 86,600 crore approved in Mar-Apr alone: FM Sitharaman

 Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on May 14 informed that 63 lakh loans worth Rs 86,600 crore from the agriculture sector were approved in the period of March and April when COVID-19 hit hard the farmers of the country. Sitharaman revealed the details in a press conference in which she announced measures for migrant laborers and rural economy amid the coronavirus pandemic.
